New sensor technology and modern software architecture:
Optimised BDC bubble diameter control increases efficiency and process speed in blown film production
With the further development of its BDC (Bubble Diameter Control) system, Hosokawa Alpine has set another milestone in efficient and stable blown film production. The new solution combines innovative sensor technology with a modern software architecture, ensuring faster control processes, consistently high product quality and greater system availability. As a leading supplier of process solutions for blown film extrusion, the Augsburg-based engineering company continuously develops technologies that help customers worldwide to optimise their production processes.
More precise control thanks to new sensor arrangement
A key component of the optimisation is the new positioning of the sensors. These are now mounted directly on the moving support arms rather than on the frame of the calibration basket. This allows them to be flexibly adapted to the respective process conditions and to detect changes in the film bubble with even greater precision.
In combination with a modern software architecture and optimised control logic, the system responds significantly faster to process fluctuations. The result is greater process stability, a stable film bubble and, consequently, more efficient production.
“With the optimised BDC bubble diameter control system, we are laying the foundations for even more stable and productive processes in blown film extrusion. The combination of intelligent sensor technology and modern software ensures faster response times and helps our customers make their production more efficient and cost-effective,” says Michael Heinecker, Senior Vice President of Blown Film Extrusion at Hosokawa Alpine.
Cost-effective retrofitting for existing plants
In addition to the technological improvements, the new solution offers another key advantage: it can be easily integrated into existing blown film lines. Companies thus benefit from a cost-effective retrofit option that can be implemented as part of modifications to existing lines.
With the optimised BDC bubble diameter control system, Hosokawa Alpine enables its customers to future-proof their existing production lines whilst benefiting from greater process reliability, improved efficiency and increased system availability.
