Classifier Mills

No single grinder is able to optimally combine all the requirements for fineness, throughput, energy efficiency, wear and contamination-free grinding, cleaning and more for every grinding material. That is why ALPINE offers a wide range of different designs. It is the only way to find the ideal solution for every task.

All-rounder solution: Classifier mill

The hallmark of Hosokawa Alpine's classifier mills is that they can be adapted to the needs of customers and their respective production processes. They are durable, versatile and cost-effective to operate.

Versatile and precise!

Whether it involves energy-efficient operations, long operating times or simple cleaning after grinding different goods, the classifier mills can be customised to meet these requirements.

Advantages of classifier mills:

  • Grinding and classifying in one machine
  • space-saving construction
  • steep particle size distribution curve and lowest spray grain content
  • high availability
  • easy to clean
  • fast maintenance and repairs

  • low specific energy requirements
  • versatile applicability
  • various customisations possible to meet requirements
  • pressure shock resistant
  • wear protection possible
  • grinding to Mohs hardness ~3.5

Compact and unwavering!

The combined, intelligent design unites the classifier and grinding technologies into a single machine. The material is ground at a peripheral speed of up to 130 m/s. The integrated classifying process can be achieved using dynamic single-wheel or multi-wheel classifiers. The fineness of the product can be adjusted within wide range limits via the classifier speed. This means that a homogeneous powder with a size of up to d50 < 10 µm can be achieved economically and cost-effectively, even with ultra-fine grinding.

Applications of classifier mills:

  • Chemistry: Resins, novolac, silica, aluminium hydroxide, citric acid; polymers, films, coated materials, pigments and powder coatings (AZO pigments, iron oxide; epoxy, acrylate)
  • Food:Cocoa, sugar, lactose, fruit, algae, soya, cereals, oats, rice, wheat, gelatine
  • Pharmaceuticals: Adhesive substances, can be sterilised in parts in an autoclave
  • Minerals & metals:Wollastonite, diatomite, talc, calcium carbonate and graphite
