The expert for customer-specific special solutions
The Hosokawa Alpine MS kompaktor series is used when a compacted material in the form of briquettes or granules is required for process steps within the value chain. This kompaktor is ideally suited for precisely these applications.
The Hosokawa Alpine MS kompaktor series has two counter-rotating rollers that press the fine-grained powder into solid flakes or briquettes. This machine can also be used as a high-pressure roller mill for grinding solid, abrasive materials. The roller is mounted on tapered roller bearings on both sides. This bearing concept allows not only radial forces to be absorbed but also axial force components, which guarantees a very long service life for the bearings. The roller/bearing arrangement is accommodated in a hinged press frame system. One of the two rollers is designed as a fixed roller and the second roller as a loose roller. The loose roller is pre-tensioned with a hydro-pneumatic spring system, allowing the required pressing forces to be applied during operation.
With the MS series, pressing forces can be achieved which, depending on the material properties, allow the material to be compacted to 99% of its pure density. The MS series is designed for throughputs of 0.5 t/h up to 250 t/h.
Dry granulation and wet granulation
There are two different processes for granulation:
Dry granulation:
Compacting and subsequent grinding
No addition of binders required
No drying necessary
Especially for products that are sensitive to heat or moisture
End product: granular, free-flowing mixture of uniform size
Wet granulation:
Addition of binders in liquid form (water or alcohol-based)
Drying process necessary
Granulation following compaction and drying
Possible negative impact on the quality of the granules

ARC CS kompaktor
Maintenance-friendly and robust
The Hosokawa Alpine kompaktor from the CS series can be used to compact both flakes and briquettes. This machine can also be used as a high-pressure roller mill for grinding solid, abrasive materials. The required pressing force is applied via a hydro-pneumatic spring system. Due to the design, very high pressing forces can be achieved. Thanks to the single-sided bearing of the two counter-rotating rollers, the roller rings can be changed within a few minutes. The simple adjustment of the working gap and the modification of the screw feed also allow the production conditions to be adapted quickly and flexibly. The ARC CS 25 compactor is particularly suitable for small production quantities of up to 0.8 tonnes per hour. It is ideal for frequent product changes and abrasive products.
The compact and space-saving design of the machine allows for easy integration into existing production facilities and on-site field tests. This machine can be provided by our Rental & Used Machine Division for this purpose, available either as a used or rental model.
